Murieston is a primarily residential district on the southern edge of Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland, defined as the 267 hectare area covered by Murieston Community Council.
The name Murieston derives from Muir (moor) of Houstoun. It is spelled in various ways: Murieston, Muirieston, Muiriston, Muirhouseton
In 2021 there were 5253 people living in 1928 houses but those numbers will have risen as the result of housing development at Wellhead Farm.

Murieston Community Council is a group of elected local residents who work as volunteers to represent the area, ascertaining the views of the community and expressing them to West Lothian Council and other public bodies.
